Hi! I am Micheline Maalouf (she/her) and I am the founder and owner of ​Serein Counseling, LLC.

Welcome to my Practice!

I offer a warm, respectful, non-judgmental environment. I will work with you to help you develop your coping skills, resolve past hurts, and help you move forward. No matter what challenges you face, I will be there as your advocate and to help empower you. You are capable of change and you deserve happiness and peace of mind, and this is your first step to that path.

I work with individuals who are experiencing anxiety, depression, recovering from complex  trauma (C-PTSD) , PTSD, and/or facing a life transition that is affecting their lives. 

My approach to counseling is rooted in Polyvagal theory where I look at the challenges you are facing as a result of chronic stress and/or trauma that have led to a dysregulated nervous system. As a result of thy dysregulation you have been stuck in the fight, flight, freeze, fawn responses which are at the baseline for anxiety, depression, and dissociation.   My approach in session is  a collaborative one where you and I work together identify past traumas, helping you regulate your nervous system, reestablish safety within yourself,  your environment, and empowering you to find your voice and truth.

 

Due to the physical impacts trauma and anxiety can have on our bodies, I utilize grounding tools and mindfulness techniques such as breath work, yoga, and meditation bring awareness to the dysregulated body and help you out of a choric fight/flight/freeze response. I also incorporate grief work, inner child work, and reparenting techniques to aid in the processing and healing of complex trauma. 

Fun facts about me: I am a third culture kid. I love traveling, learning new languages, and trying the diverse cuisines of the world. In my free time you will find me hanging out with my family, chilling on my couch binge watching my favorite shows, and playing with my awesome Cocker Spaniel, Norman.
